West Ham Sign Lucas Neill and Kepa Blanco
Alan Curbishley has continued to spend the Icelandic investors cash adding two more players to his ever increasing squad. Defender Lucas Neill from Blackburn Rovers and Kepa Blanco from UEFA Cup holders Sevilla.
Lucas Neill has chosen to join the Upton Park outfit even though he had been talking to Liverpool. Even though the wages offered by West Ham dwarfed the offer made by Liverpool the player has said money wasn’t a factor in his decision. It was all about the ambition of the clubs new owners, although the acid test would be to see if there is a relegation release clause in the Australian’s two and half year deal.
Kepa Blanco turned down possible moves to Charlton, Manchester City, Bolton and Villa to join the Hammers on loan with a view to a permanent move in the summer. He has stated that he has a point to prove to Sevilla he wants to show them he could still have had a place in their side. However to do that he will have to fight for a place in the West Ham side and competition for places is tough with Tevez, Sheringham, Harewood, Zamora, Cole and the injured Ashton all ahead of him at the moment.
