Braga earned the right to play Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup. The Portuguese side beat Parma 1-0 in both legs to win 2-0 on aggregate.

Spurs were awarded a bye when Feyenoord were kicked out of the competition for not being able to control their fans in games against Nancy and Blackburn in the group stages. The down time provided by not having UEFA fixtures has allowed Spurs to rest up and kick start their season with Two away wins in a row against Fulham in the FA Cup and Everton in the Premiership.
