Tevez Saves Hammers From Relegation At The hands Of The Premiership Champions Manchester United

West Ham United needed at least a point from their game with the Premiership Champions in waiting if they were to remain in the top flight. Alan Curbishley would have to work the same magic he worked in his first game in charge of the Hammers if he was to get a result at Old Trafford.

United with one eye on the FA Cup Final next week, seemed a little reluctant enter full blooded challenges. Although they did have a number of chances that threatened the West Ham goal, however Rob Green with the help of his defence was more than a match for the Red Devils efforts.

West Ham had their opportunities too and it was man of the moment Carlos Tevez who broke the deadlock before half-time. The Argentinean was tireless and chased a breaking ball toward the goal line near the edge of the six yard box. He managed find a way past Edwin Van Der Sar in the Manchester goal from the acute angle to put the relegation strugglers in the lead.

United were unable to find a way back in to the game, but with the FA Cup next week and celebrating to do they seemed content with the performance they put in.

The controversy will rage on well in to the summer, but Hammer of the Year Carlos Tevez did what was required of him. He will no doubt be off to sunny climbs for the summer, the question is will he return to England? If so which club will he be at?
