Tax Man Chases Leeds Owner Ken Bates Halting Healy Move
The Inland Revenue have lodged a challenge to the Creditors Voluntary Agreement which the club entered after going into administration at the end of last season. Going in to administration before the end of the season helped the club miss out on a ten point deduction next season.
However the punishment seems like it could come in the form of the challenge by the Inland Revenue. The club creditors agreed to accept just 1p in every pound owed by the club, but after negotiations the club have to pay eight times the original amount.
Leeds are currently unable to buy and sell players until the deadline of 4pm today, when they would have been able to look to the future and rebuild for the season ahead. The Inalnd Revenue’s challenge will ensure that this issue drags on for at least another month or so. Effectively wiping out this transfer window and hold players who may have a future elsewhere hostage at the Yorkshire club. One such player is David Healy who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, where he would join former Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez at Fulham.
