Sunderland Win The Coca-Cola Championship
Roy Keane’s Sunderland side travelled to Luton knowing that to win the Championship they needed a win and they needed Preston to beat or draw with Birmingham City.
The Black Cats were two goals up after just six minutes through Stokes and Murphy. Murphy scored again and was joined on the score sheet by Ross Wallace and David Connolly.
Birmingham City fell at the last hurdle when they failed to overcome Preston North End at Deepdale. Meaning Steve Brice has to settle for second place in the Championship.
Both clubs will hope not to Yo-Yo straight back to the Championship in the same way that Sunderland did last term and the way that Watford did this season.
