Ruud Heads to Real as Carrick Looks to the Theatre of Dreams
Ruud Van Nistelrooy has become a “galactico” having completed his move from Manchester United to the Santiago Bernabeu. The transaction looks to have been good value for money for the Spanish Giants, buying one of the Champions League’s most prolific goal scorers for just £10 million. Meanwhile back at the Theatre of Dreams Sir Alex has spent £18.6 million on Michael Carrick from Tottenham; a clear demonstration of Fergusson’s ability to spend the Glazer war chest in preparation for the season ahead. He has been handed the number 16 shirt for next season, indicating he is seen as a replacement for Roy Keane. His contribution will be integral to success at united next season, however it won’t be the same as the 21 game winning goals that Van Nistelrooy scored last season.
