Puma Celebrates Forty 40 Years Of The King
Having watched Eusebio score 9 goals during the 1966 World Cup in England, the designers at PUMA decided that he should be the man to help them develop a signature football boot. The process took two years to complete and in 1968 the PUMA King was born. The boot over time would become just as big a legend as the player selling in millions and becoming synonymous with success in top flight football.

The fortieth anniversary will be marked with Ruby coloured boots and accessories with gold trim, in keeping with traditions of celebrating a 40 year or Ruby anniversary of a marriage. Again staying with tradition the PUMA King XL, that is XL for Forty in Roman Numerals rather than Extra Large, will have conical studs and will feature the date of the anniversary also in Roman numerals in the sole plate with toe overlay and lateral stability inspired by the Eusebio original.
This year the boot will be worn in the Premier League by Michael Carrick and Dean Ashton.
