After fifteen months of exile to look after his wife Martin O’Neill has re-entered the world of club management taking charge at Aston Villa. O’Neill will be joined by his back room team of John Robertson and Steve Walford.

O’Neill appears to be ready for the challenge stating that he did not want any sympathy votes, as he embarks on a challenge that he says he is ‘petrified’ of. He has indicated that there are some funds that he intends to put to good use to strengthen the squad.

He will have little trouble in adjusting to the pressures of the Premership following his successful years as manager of Scottish champions Glasgow Celtic. Perhaps he will be able to bring some success Villa, and give the fans of the sleeping midlands giant something to cheer about.
