McClaren Names England Backroom Staff And Captain

England Manager Steve McClaren addressed the media on Friday to announce his first squad for the upcoming game against Greece. Former captain David Beckham who has been omitted for McClaren’s inaugural squad will not be able to repeat the performance that took England to the World Cup in 2002.

John Terry was introduced as David Beckham’s replacement as Captain and Steven Gerrard as vice captain, removing injured Michael Owen from the position.

McClaren took the brave decision of installing Terry Venables as part of the backroom set-up, a decision that will be met with acclaim in the south, as charismatic Venables is popular with the media.
