Last Minute Jermaine Jenas Goal Earns Spurs A Draw Against Arsenal In The North London Derby
Tottenham started the 154th North London derby brightly, containing their visitors and creating a number of chances. Hoping to take advantage of the troublesome week their visitors are having.
The normally quiet Arsenal boardroom has been plastered all over the back pages of the newspapers, as David Dein left as the club prepares for a hostile take over by American Investor Stan Kroenke.
Dimitar Berbatov looked dangerous for the home side, but it was his strike partner that put Spurs ahead. Robbie Keane headed the goal from inside the six-yard box after Michael Dawson knocked the ball down.
Freddie Ljungberg limped out of the game just before half-time, to be replaced by Cesc Fabregas. After the break Arsenal and their Spanish midfielder seemed to have more influence on the game. The turning point came when Tainio was substituted for Malbranque disrupting the Spurs midfield.
Four minutes later Arsenal were back in the game when Toure scored when he was found unmarked on the back post. Fifteen minutes later the visitors were in front through another header. This time it was the head of Emmanuel Adebayor that looped the ball over the Spurs keeper and in to the top corner of the goal.
However Tottenham were to have the last laugh on their neighbours, and as many of their fans were heading for the exit they struck to even the spoils. It was Jermaine Jenas who scored in the last minute of extra time, much to the delight of the home support.
