Less than a week after lodging a transfer request for personal reasons David James has completed a 2million pound transfer to south coast side Portsmouth. James is rumoured to want to be closer to his fiancé.

Manager Harry Redknapp has been busy during the transfer window to bolster his squad in preparation for the long season ahead. He has already secured the services of former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell, and has been linked with a number of high profile foreign footballers most recently Diego Forlan of Villareal.
