Owen Hargreaves is finally a Manchester United player one year after it was reported that he was given the guided tour of Old Trafford in an attempt to lure him to the Premiership.

The move was by Hargreaves own admission the ‘worst kept secret in football’. Hargreaves was available on a free transfer 18 months ago but no body was interested until he shone in last years World Cup Finals in Germany. The 18 months will cost Manchester United almost a million pounds each as they reimburse Bayern Munich for Hargreaves. The big question will be do Manchester United need another £18m holding midfielder, when they only bought Carrick last year? Or is Hargreaves worth more than Thierry Henry?
