Goals From Bellamy and Riise Help Liverpool Beat Barcelona

After the scandal of the weekend where it was alleged that Craig Bellamy took a golf club to team mate John Arne Riise after a disagreement while away at a training camp in Portugal.

Bellamy was a constant threat and the thorn in the side of Barca manager Frank Rijkaard. After going behind to a Deco header, it was Bellamy who levelled the score for Liverpool, when Valdes carried the ball across his line, Dirk Kuyt was on hand to ensure the ball crossed the line when the keeper spilled the ball. The referee and his assistant had already given the goal.

Barca who have their own issues in the dressing room found themselves behind when Bellamy rolled the ball into the path of Riise; who is famous for his left foot finishes, to thump the ball in to the Barcelona goal with his right foot.

Liverpool know they still have a lot to do in the home leg at Anfield if they are to knock out the current champions and progress to the next round.
