One week before star studded Chelsea take on Liverpool in the Community (Charity) Shield they took on an All-Star side from the United States Major League Soccer in Chicago’s Toyota Park Stadium. 

The game saw the debut of the newest heavy weights of the Abramovich army Michael Ballack and Andrej Shevchenko. They both showed promise during the game but neither could break the deadlock. Joe Cole looks like he will miss the start of the season with suspected knee ligament damage.

In true Hollywood style the US heroes defeated the enemy from Russia (via SW7) when on 70 minutes Dwayne De Rosario shot from the edge of the box only to see it fly past Hilario who had only been involved in the game for six short minutes.
