Dimitar Berbatov Wins Spurs Supporters Player Of The Year
The inevitable happened at White Hart Lane on Sunday, yes Spurs beat Manchester City, after the game there were a few other results to be announced.
The Tottenham faithful having admired their team in victory were about to bestow an award on one of their heroes. With all of the focus, reports of transfers and fantastic performances the winner of the fans player of the year was obvious. Having scored 23 goals this season and setting up just as many its easy to see why, although you have to feel for the unsung heroes like Michael Dawson who at a young age held together the fragile Spurs defence in the absence of captain Ledley King.
Dawson performed well and was rewarded with an improved contract, the award is the fans way of trying to ensure that Berbatov stays at the club next year after having such a great first season. The Bulgarian striker’s touch, vision and ability to bring other people in to the game are reminiscent of a talent that used to ply his trade for Tottenham’s North London Rivals. Now they are in Europe again Spurs fans will be glad their player of the season doesn’t have a fear of flying.
