Claudio Reyna Defects For MLS Joining New York Red Bulls Having Been Released By Manchester City

Thirty-Three year old former captain of America Claudio Reyna was recently released from his contract by Manchester City having been at the Eastlands since 2003 when he was sold by Sunderland for £2.5M.

He asked to be released from his contract for family reasons as he wished to move home to the United States. His former national coach Bruce Arena has made Reyna one of his designated players for the New York Red Bulls. Which means he can pay Reyna more than the league salary cap of $300,000 a year.
