Celtic Bow Out Of Champions League To Kaka Goal For Milan In Extra Time
Gordon Strachan’s side came to the San Siro needing a goal after holding AC Milan to a goal less draw in the first leg in Parkhead. Celtic had boldly gone where no other Scottish team had managed to go since the competition changed and adopted the Champions League format. The first Scottish team to make it through the group stage, fell at the first hurdle.
They didn’t go out without a fight, although it was Milan who looked the more likely to score. Celtic’s Polish keeper Artur Boruc made a string of saves to keep his side in the game. His clean sheet forced the game to go in to extra time.
Kaka managed to put the home side in front in the first half of injury time, his brilliant piece of individual skill allowed him to break through the hoops defence and put the ball through the legs of the advancing goal keeper. The goal was enough to see his side in Friday’s draw which takes place in Athens home of this years final.
