Coca-Cola Championship: Crystal Palace Chairman Simon Jordan Sacked Peter Taylor
Comments (2)Crystal Palace have sacked Peter Taylor following their poor start to the season they currently languish at the wrong end of the table. They are 19th in the table with only two wins all season. Palace had begun with the dream start winning 4-1 away at Southampton on the opening day of the season.
Jordan Sees Crystal Palace As A Premier League Club
Chairman Simon Jordan has always believed that the south east London outfit belong in the Premier League and he has obviously lost faith in the ability of the former England under 21 manager. The club released a statement on their website announcing that Taylor’s contract has been terminated with ‘immediate effect’. It would seem that the youthful ranks at Palace were no ready, and their inexperience has cost the manager his job.
Warnock Favourite To Take Over At Palace
There are a host of unemployed managers that could take the reigns at Selhurst Park many of whom have got sides promoted or managed premier league clubs. Neil Warnock could be a match for the demanding overly demanding Jordan, John Gregory could make the short trip from Loftus road after recently parting company with QPR.

Beattie Joins Mowbray At West Brom
Comments (0)Celtic and Scotland International Striker Craig Beattie has signed for West Bromwich Albion in a £1.25 million tranfer deal, with
a further £500,000 after appearances. Beattie had been on the fringes of the Celtic team since he made his debut in 2003, unfortunately
Inury has curtailed the number of games he has played for Celtic.
Tony Mowbray tried to buy Beattie last year, while he was Hibernian Manager however the two clubs could not come to compromise over
the transfer fee to be paid. Now Beattie has left Celtic Park for the Hawthorns and will look forward to helping West Brom try to return to the
Premiership after losing out last season.
MARSHALL SIGNS FOR THE CANARIES
Comments (0)David Marshall today signed for Peter Grant’s Norwich City today in a reported £1 million transfer from Celtic Park.
Marshall’s chances of First Team action had been limited at Celtic after the arrival of Polish International Artur Boruc and
so he went on loan to Norwich during last season, only to have it cut short through injury. He left a lasting impression on
the manager and the club as they have now got his services on a permanent deal.
Marshall rose to prominance after a legendary performance against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the UEFA Cup.
Including saving a Penalty from Ronaldinho, unfortunately his performances after this match were inconsistent and he lost
the number one jersey when Boruc came to the club.
Tax Man Chases Leeds Owner Ken Bates Halting Healy Move
Comments (0)The Inland Revenue have lodged a challenge to the Creditors Voluntary Agreement which the club entered after going into administration at the end of last season. Going in to administration before the end of the season helped the club miss out on a ten point deduction next season.
However the punishment seems like it could come in the form of the challenge by the Inland Revenue. The club creditors agreed to accept just 1p in every pound owed by the club, but after negotiations the club have to pay eight times the original amount.
Leeds are currently unable to buy and sell players until the deadline of 4pm today, when they would have been able to look to the future and rebuild for the season ahead. The Inalnd Revenue’s challenge will ensure that this issue drags on for at least another month or so. Effectively wiping out this transfer window and hold players who may have a future elsewhere hostage at the Yorkshire club. One such player is David Healy who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, where he would join former Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez at Fulham.
West Ham Safe As Sheffield United Lose Fight For Premier League Survival
Comments (0)The independent arbitration panel have delivered the hammer blow that has sealed the Blades participation in the Coca-Cola Championship next season.
Sheffield United appealed following the meagre £5.5 million fine West Ham received following a breach of Premier League rules regarding the ownership of Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez. However the independent arbitration panel upheld the decision made by the Premier League indicating that the original decision was neither ‘irrational or perverse’.
The Blades will consider their next steps, which could involve further appeals or law suits after their legal team digest the decision of the arbitration panel. It seems certain that Sheffield United will be playing for a place in the Premier League rather than playing in the Premier League, they may eventually receive some kind of compensation.
Sunderland Withdraw Offer For Nugent
Comments (0)Black Cats boss Roy Keane has withdrawn his clubs offer for David Nugent. Preston had given Sunderland permission to talk to the England international once they had agreed to meet their valuation of the player.
It could be that Roy Keane’s legendary temper kicked in and he withdrew the offer due to the player’s stalling on the move to the North East. So far Keane has only been interested in players that fit in at the stadium of light and they must value football over finance.
Last season Keane demonstrated that he would not endure any divas in his squad when he sent three players home for a lack of punctuality. Their crime was missing the bus for the away trip to Derby County.
Wolves Sold For A Tenner
Comments (0)Wolverhampton Wanderers Sold For £10 To Steve Morgan On The Provision That He Invests £30m
Sir Jack Hayward has decided to sell his beloved Wolves after 17 years of ownership. Hayward has sold his entire interest in the club for a nominal fee which is believed to be just Ten (10) pounds. The deal struck with Liverpudlian businessman Steve Morgan is subject to his investment in the club. Morgan will have to invest a sum of £30m to build a Wolves for the future, ensuring the existence of the club in the often unstable financial climate.
Even with the massive investment of Morgan, manager Mick McCarthy will not be able to employ an open cheque book recruitment policy. Which would only undo all of the good work he has achieved on a limited budget this season.
Chief Executive Jez Moxey will remain in his position to help ensure stability during the transition. Morgan had previously been involved in the bidding for Liverpool, only to lose out to the American partnership of George Gillet and Tom Hicks.
Wigan Win At Bramall Lane To Relegate Sheffield United
Comments (1)Talk of conspiracy theories during the week spoke of the variety of ways that both Sheffield United and Wigan could engineer a result that would see them both in the Premiership next season. However the key to the success of any conspiracy relied on Manchester United beating West Ham United.
The visitors were a goal up within fifteen minutes, Paul Scharner’s left foot putting Wigan on the road to safety. The blades wanted to make that road as long and hard as possible. They got back in the game just before half time when Jon Stead showed the desire needed if United were to stay up, as he put his head in to the mix to score the equaliser.
There was to a twist, a killer blow for the Blades as their captain Phil Jagielka handled the ball in the box. Up stepped former Blade David Unsworth to take the spot-kick. A sigh of relief was breathed the United faithful as they recalled his penalty miss for them earlier in the season. However he was about to send his old club back to the Coca-Cola Championship as he placed the ball just outside the reach of Paddy Kenny. In the closing stages of the game Wigan striker Lee McCullough was sent off for a second yellow card but his team held on to the win to stay in the Premiership.
Neil Warnock’s press conferences will be missed in the Premiership next season. The Tevez debate will drag on over the close season, however there will be no changing the punishment that the Premier League have handed out.
Muamba Makes Loan Transfer To Birmingham Permanent
Comments (0)Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has begun his summer spending spree by signing Arsenal’s Fabrice Muamba on a permanent deal. The nineteen year-old who impressed during his season long loan at St. Andrews will want to show his old boss Arsene Wenger that he can perform in the premiership next season.
Bruce feels the midfielder has justified the praise he heaped on him when he arrived at Birmingham last year. Muamba played in 41 of the games that helped the blues to promotion.
