Capello Justified in David Beckham Recall To Real Madrid But Will McClaren Recall Him For England

Former England captain David Beckham has made his first appearance for Real Madrid since announcing his summer move to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Los Angeles Galaxy. After the announcement of the deal his current manager Fabio Capello told the worlds press that Beckham would never again wear a Real Madrid shirt.

However after a string of poor results and after most of the players pledged their support to Beckham, Capello was forced into back tracking and selecting Beckham for the squad for the trip to Real Sociedad. A selection that was justified when Beckham stepped up and stroked home a trademark free kick. A goal that helped secure a valuable 2-1 away victory that could help reduce the pressure on Fabio Capello.

Another manager could do with taking note of these recent events is England manager Steve McClaren. His side recently crashed to a defeat at Old Trafford to Spain, in a performance reminiscent of those under Sven Goran-Ericsson where there was no plan b and not all of the players knew plan a, with many players being played out of their normal club position. McClaren could do worse than swallow his pride and recall Beckham, if only to give him more options.
