Beckham Sees Red In Second Game Back Against Real Betis At the Bernabeu

The David Beckham story has encountered another twist, just a week after his fantastic return to the Real Madrid first eleven, where his goal from a free kick helped his side to a much needed victory.

He was awarded a straight red card in the goalless stalemate with Betis. The tackle a frustrated almost petulant lunge, disguised as a sliding challenge where he lashed out and connected with thin air; could mean he is suspended for the next three games. Which would rule him out of the trip to the Camp Nou on the 11th March, a crucial game that could decide the Galactico’s season.

He may be lucky and get a reduced ban on appeal, but when will he learn? He is not the confused youngster that kicked Diego Simeone any more. Perhaps he wont have this problem when he finally makes his summer move to LA Galaxy.

David Beckham is still a world class player and he probably would be included in any international managers squad so McClarens decision to drop Beckham from the England squad reveals just what an inept manager he is, if Beckham had been included from the start of European qualifiers, then i doubt England would be in the precarious position that they now find themselves in. If you look back at David’s England career, he has been instrumental in each of Englands qualifying campaigns, he is a unique player with a unique talent and in my opinion he is probably the most influential and inspirational player in the history of English football. Rumour has it that it was Davids team mates at Real who wanted him back in the first team and Capello succumbed to the pressure and brought him back, and it would seem the same thing is now happening in the Enland team and McClaren is reported to be considering selecting Beckham again. McClaren must now be realising just how much his team is missing Davids contribution and influence. Dropping Beckham from the England squad was a bad mistake and one that McClaren will live to regret
