Derby Capture Welsh Striker Earnshaw For Their Premiership Campaign
Comments (0)Robbie Earnshaw has left Norwich City in a deal that takes him to Derby County, giving the African born Welshman a second crack at the Premiership.
Earnshaw had been part of the West Bromwich Albion side that was relegated two years ago. Although in his brief stint in the premiership he managed to etch his name in the record books as the only player to score a hatrick in every professional league in England as well as for his country.
Spurs Smash Transfer Record As Bent Signs For Tottenham
Comments (0)Darren Bent has sealed his transfer out of the Valley, he will head north across the river Thames to White Hart Lane. He leaves relegated Charlton with a huge profit from his sale as they only paid £2.5m for him two years ago. The addicks may have to pay a percentage of the fee received to Ipswich as part of a sell on clause which could see them double the money they received in the original deal.
Bent has been the highest scoring Englishman in the premiership for the last two season. Only Drogba and the freshly departed Henry have scored more premiership goals.
The attraction of Tottenham for Bent was their recruitment policy of buying young, mostly English talent, coupled with the clubs desire to break in to the top four and play Champions League football.
Bent’s arrival win surely signal the departure of Mido, who has struggled to hold down a place in the team since making his move permanent last year. However there is increasing speculation about the future of Jermain Defoe, although he should relish the opportunity of partnering Bent for club and possibly country.
Tottenham will look for Bent to repay their investment in goals and trophies, as there may not be too many Spurs fans willing to fork our for a shirt with BENT on the back, despite the clubs homosexual friendly policies.
Rumours Of A Transfer For Nakamura From Celtic
Comments (0)NAKAMURA HOT PROPERTY?
Once again, during the Summer transfer window clubs are chasing after Celtic’s Asian midfield genius, Shunsuke Nakamura. The Japanese International has been linked today with a transfer to four unnamed ‘Big’ European clubs by an Italian Lawyer acting as his representative.
Nakamura is one of Celtic’s key players after securing the championship with a wonder goal in the last minute of extra time at Kilmarnock and another greater free kick against Manchester United at Celtic Park in the Champions League to seal the Glasgow side’s place in the last 16. However since his arrival at Celtic Park, Nakamura has clearly stated that one day he would love to play in Spain this has always fuelled speculation and rumour that the midfield maestro would leave Celtic for pastures new.
However a Celtic club spokesperson said, “Celtic have a contract with Nakamura for next year and the option for a further year.”
Whatever the outcome of this saga, Celtic will not allow their top player to leave for pennies. They have recently purchased Scott Brown for £4.5 million and last year they sold Stilian Petrov for £6.5 million (plus add ons to take it up to £8 million) so there is no way that Nakamura would leave for anything less than £8 million, after you take into consideration: He is an International player, his free kicks have been rated as one of the bets in the world by Ronaldinho, and the revenue he brings in from merchandise both at home and in Japan plus media coverage in his homeland - would make Nakamura the single biggest transfer out of Scottish Football.
Spurs Unwilling To Match Charlton 16 Million Valuation Of Darren Bent
Comments (1)Amid a river of speculation about the future of their most prized asset Charlton Athletic have announced to SkySports News that they have not agreed to sell the player to anyone other than West Ham United. Charlton chairman Peter Varney told Sky Sports News “West Ham matched our valuation… No other club has matched our valuation”.
Bent turned down the opportunity to join the Hammers last week when they agreed to pay in excess of £16 million. The player failed to agree personal terms even though reports suggest that they offered the striker £70k a week in wages.
Charlton’s valuation will be a stumbling block in the transfer, they want a similar amount of money to what Barcelona have agreed to pay for Thierry Henry (£16m). However the players are incomparable, the only things that they have in common is they both play in the same position in the same league for London clubs. Henry is a world-class international striker, who has won a world cup, a European championship and a hatful of domestic titles . Bent on the other hand is far from the finished article, a young striker with just two years experience in the top flight scoring 31 goals at a club that was relegated and only two England caps.
Spurs fans will sigh with relief that their club are reluctant to spend so much money on the young striker. Bringing in a record signing would surely upset the fantastic partnership between Berbatov and Keane. Martin Jol would have to play the club’s most expensive player most probably with Berbatov who is currently the club’s second most expensive player.
If Spurs are to change their attack with the departure of either Mido and/or Defoe, they could do little worse than sign a promising young talent like Julien Faubert alongside a veteran like Christian Vieri. Planning for the future while having an effective strike force for next season.
Arsenal Confirm Henry Transfer To Barcelona
Comments (1)Just days after finalising the season tickets for next season, Arsenal have announced that they will be selling club captain Thierry Henry. Ever since the departure of David Dein there has been a multitude of stories about the instability of the clubs future.
A number of high profile players have made comments in the press about where they see their future. The presence of influential Frenchmen Wenger & Henry were the factors that most players said would ensure that they committed their futures to the North London club.
Now with Henry’s imminent departure a matter of tying up loose ends and organising the removal men, and Wenger having just one more year left on his deal. There could be a mass exodus from Ashburton Grove or at least a struggle to regain the glory of the last ten years.
Arsenal have been quiet in the transfer window, probably due to the fact that chief deal maker David Dein has resigned, compounded by the constant stream of rumours about the club and the future of the two biggest names at the club. Few players would want to come to a club knowing that the manager could be different in a few months at worst or in a year at best. Although there could be an opportunity for some of the clubs youngsters to stand up and make an name for themselves in a similar manner to the way Henry did eight years ago.
AC Milan Midfielder Donati To Sign For Glasgow Celtic
Comments (1)Massimo Donati last night sealed a move to Celtic in a £3 million transfer from AC Milan. Donati will fly into Glasgow to sign on the dotted line at the beginning of the week and sign for the Scottish champions after passing a medical. It is rumoured that the Italian has signed a four year deal after Celtic beat off competition from a number of other clubs in Italy.
Milan bought Donati for £10 million from Atalanta, but had been sent out on loan to a number of Serie A clubs as competition in the San Siro side was too strong for the pacey winger.
Donati will become Gordon Strachan’s fourth signing during the summer, with the winger joining Scott Brown, Chris Killen and Scott McDonald as new employees on the payroll. The Italian should jet off with Celtic to their pre-season friendlies in Switzerland and America in July, with many Celtic fans hoping that he is joined by a number of other new signings including Italian compatriot, Gennaro Delvecchio (Sampdoria), Stephen Appiah (Fenerbache) and Roy Makaay (Bayern Munich).
Thierry Henry Signs For Barcelona In 24 Million Transfer From Arsenal
Comments (3)Arsenal captain Thierry Henry is on his way to La Liga runners up Barcelona. The club appear to have cashed in on the French striker just one season after getting him to commit his future to Arsenal. However there have been a number of changes this season behind the scenes, David Dein left following a fall out with the board.
The main contributory factor to Henry’s decision is the uncertainty over the future of manager Arsene Wenger, a number of the first team players including former Barca player Cesc Fabregas have indicated in interviews that they would consider their future if the influential Frenchman were to leave Ashburton Grove. Wenger has been linked with managerial positions at both Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent weeks.
Henry had been linked with a move away from Arsenal for the last couple of seasons, but remained at the club giving the fans the hope that they would get back on the winning track next season. However the Arsenal squad is not what it was and Henry feels that the time is right to move. Some commentators might use the fact that Henry was pictured wearing a ‘Spurs’ shirt as the reason for his quick departure from the club, after he attended a basketball game in America. The deal is believed to be in the region of €24m Euro which is a reasonable return for the club after the years of service and success Henry and his goals have brought the club.
Birmingham Sign Striker Garry OConnor From Lokomotiv Moscow
Comments (0)Former Hibernian frontman Garry O’Connor looks set to join Steve Bruce’s newly promoted, Birmingham City who have agreed a fee, thought to be in the region of £2.7 million with the Scottish International’s present employers Lokomotiv Moscow. Once he passes his medical O’Connor will sign a two year deal and his first task will be to help Birmingham stay in the Premiership.
It has been a bit of an up and down year for Garry O’Connor, he was left out in the cold by Walter Smith after he went AWOL before the Scotland team travelled to Ukraine with many believing, that the hitman had played his last game in a Scotland jersey. However newly appointed national manager and his former manager at Hibernian, Alex McLeish has brought him in from the cold and gave him a wee tea cosy to warm him up for battle against the Faroe Islands and Austria. McLeishs’ gamble paid off and O’Connor scored a brace of goals to seal two victories in as many games. Now with a move to Birmingham sealed and his 15 month exile over in Moscow at an end, O’Connor must be looking forward to new challenges for both Club and Country.
Hollywood Finale Sees Beckham Win A Trophy At Real Madrid
Comments (0)David Beckham was fit enough to start his final game for Real Madrid, his wife and children watching him from the stands of the Santiago Bernabeu with their new friends Hollywood phenomenon ‘TomKat’ Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, presumably in Spain to help the Beckham’s move to Los Angeles.
The script of the season would be fitting of one of Tom Cruise’s Hollywood flicks, Beckham makes millions for the clubs marketing machine while failing to win any medals. He falls out of favour with both club and country, signs the biggest deal in the history of the sport where he will earn more money than it costs to buy some Premier League clubs. Then he manages to over come all the odds to help both club and country once again becoming the catalyst of the team. The whole season resting on the result of the game ahead, it seemed a story that Disney couldn’t make up.
However it was to become even more unbelievable when the Galacticos found themselves a goal behind in the first half. Beckham was substituted with an injury to his left ankle that will no doubt have all concerned in the Home Depot Center very worried. His replacement Jose Antonio Reyes who is on a season long loan from Arsenal seemed to be playing for a future in Spain. He scored the equaliser before an own goal put the champions elect in the lead.
Real Madrid’s fate and Beckham’s entry in to the history books was sealed ten minutes from time when Reyes curled a sublime shot in to the Mallorca goal. The new Spanish champions then said their goodbyes to their departing players giving each their opportunity to say goodbye to the home fans. Even though Beckham’s departure was the highest profile, the final goodbye was from another Galactico, Roberto Carlos. Carlos has spent 12 years at the Bernabeu winning a number or league titles and three Champions Leagues in his tenure that saw him secure the title of the worlds best left back.
Joey Barton Completes Transfer From Manchester City To Newcastle United
Comments (1)Sam Allardyce has signed Joey Barton for a fee of £5.8m from Manchester City, there had been some issues in completing the deal as City were reluctant to pay Barton a fee believed to be in the region of £300k.
Barton leaves the Eastlands stadium following a training ground row with Ousmane Dabo. The 24 year olds career has been blighted with incidents that have earned him a reputation of being a trouble maker. He will no doubt look to a fresh start in the north east an look to become a hero to the toon faithful.
